Greetings Portage Lake Residents,
March Social Update: Iron Horse in Nevis is the confirmed location to have dinner together this month. We're all set to be in their back/side room at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19.
This remainder of this message includes a great deal of important information, so please be sure to read it in its entirety.
Association Dues for 2025 are $30
This year's dues should be paid by May 15.
Please write checks to Portage Lake Improvement Association and mail to:

AIS Monitoring and Treatment
As I have shared in previous messages, the association did not treat any open water for Curly Leaf Pondweed (CLP) last year. We have filed our contract with PLM to complete their usual survey in 2025. The past two surveys have shown small amounts without sufficient growth over the previous year. It will be interesting to see what they find this June.
Private/Resident AIS/Weed Treatment
If you have previously contracted PLM for treatment of your shoreline area, you should have received your 2024 contract from them by now. If you have not had a PLM contract recently and are interested in their services, you can call them at 866-687-5253 or visit the website: https://plmcorp.net/
Join the Social Activity Committee
We've had great turnouts for our off-season dinners again this year. Last year's scheduled summer events never came to fruition, so as of now, we do not have anything planned. Between my daughter's June 21 wedding and some additional work travel, I will be unable to be the sole planner between May 1 and Sept. 26. I'd like to establish a committee/working group to plan and promote these kinds of events. Please let me know if you are interested.
Annual Meeting and Potluck: 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23 The annual meeting is a great time to engage with other members on topics that are important to the well-being of our lake and its residents. We’ll start at 5 p.m. with a potluck, followed by the official meeting.
Virtual Pike Tournament
After our meeting with DNR Fisheries last summer, it was discussed that we should try to establish a season-long virtual Northern Pike Tournament. I don't have details yet about the process or prizes for this association-only tournament. Once I do, I will share them by email and on the Facebook group.
Member Directory
I am still evaluating formats for an updated directory, but hope to have a new one pulled together by Memorial Day. If there's anyone interested in assisting with this process, please reach out.
Thanks to you all for your commitment to Portage Lake and its residents.
As always, reach out if you have any questions.
