December 30, 2025 Update

Happy Snowy Tuesday Portage Lakers!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are ready to ring in the new year!

We didn't get as much snow as was forecast this week, but got a dusting overnight and more light accumulations are expected this week. Today's mild temperatures should be favorable for getting out on snowshoes or skis or staring down an ice hole to see what you can get to bite.

Our first social event of 2026 will be at Park Rapids' newest restaurant – The Clubhouse (located at 18081 169th Ave.). We will gather at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28. You can view the "Supper Club" menu online.

Many thanks to the 39 property owners who have paid their 2026 dues. As a reminder, dues are $50 and are being collected by Kari Smith this year. Her address is 20756 Forest Park Dr.

We've received some questions about the plan to treat the 25 acres of open-water Curly Leaf Pondweed this spring. We'll be posting an FAQ to the website soon and will let you know how to access it as soon as it's published.

If you are at the lake this week, the Fosters are planning a small fireworks show as the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve to ring in 2026.

Thanks to all for a spectacular 2025 on the lake. Here's to many more memories being made with family and friends in the new year!
